After researching her roots, Johari decided to write her memoirs for her grandchildren. Believing that the names and dates would be more meaningful as a narrative, she combined the oral history from her elders with the "stories" contained in historical documents. The result is this factual opus that can be enjoyed by all. After learning about her project, her family encouraged her to share Ten Generations of Bondage with others.
