MELVIN L. ROGERS is Professor of Political Science and Co-Director of the Demoracy Project at Brown University, where he teaches courses in American and African American political thought, theories of democracy, and contemporary political philosophy. Rogers holds degrees from Yale University (PhD; MPhil), Cambridge (MPhil), and Amherst College (BA). He has held academic appointments at UCLA, Emory University, University of Virginia, Swarthmore College, and Carleton College.
