Arlene Cohen

Arlene Cohen’s books are not only entertaining, they are also Informative. In her children’s books, she focuses on developing the whole child By integrating creative movement with stories and poems. Learning new words and ideas are facilitated when the child is active.

She has utilized her background as a dancer, storyteller, librarian, and teacher, with support from the National Endowment for the culture and arts, The Texas Heritage Foundation, and The Regional Arts and Culture Council in Oregon, to fashion her programs and books. She was a Dancing Storyteller and Workshop Leader for 25 years. She holds a Master’s in Library Science from the University of Hawaii, where she also taught Storytelling in the Speech Department.

Having a life punctuated by acute moments of disbelief, she dared to write about them in short stories and episodes for adults, called Mostly True. There is wisdom in each story and episode. enhanced by magical realism, to move one along on the bumpy trek of life.
