Cathy C. Post

Award-winning author, historian and biographer, Cathy C. Post, was the 2022 recipient of the prestigious “PenCraft Book Award for Literary Excellence,” a national award presented annually in both fiction and nonfiction categories. Post received 1st Place in Nonfiction for her sports biography -- Red Cagle: West Point’s Three-Time All-American. Post grew up along the Gulf Coast in Louisiana. She first taught school before becoming a legal secretary for the District Attorney, and Third Circuit Court of Appeal. When the Post family moved to Santa Fe, the McNeese graduate began her twenty-year career at a national laboratory. After retirement, Post began to write books about notable Louisiana characters and historical events. Her goal -- write narrative non-fiction -- true stories, history books that read like suspense novels.

Post’s first book -- Hurricane Audrey: The Deadly Storm of 1957-- was honored In Washington DC, on the floor of the United States Senate, and entered into the Congressional Record on the fiftieth anniversary of the hurricane. For her efforts in preserving Louisiana history, Post was also invited to the State Capitol in Baton Rouge to address the Louisiana Legislature—both the Senate and the House chambers—the only non-elected speaker ever to be afforded this honor.
