I am a developmental pediatrician and integrative medicine physician in Columbia, Maryland. I combine traditional and complementary medicine approaches to the treatment of autism, ADHD, anxiety, and other behavioral and developmental disorders. I have found that combining both types of treatments has resulted in overall better outcomes for my patients and their families. In 2001, I founded a multi-disciplinary integrative medicine practice for children, adults and families which I directed and practiced within for 15 years. I am currently in solo practice, focusing on my passions of patient care, teaching and writing.
I am the co-author of two books, "The Kid-Friendly ADHD and Autism Cookbook" and "The ADHD and Autism Nutritional Supplement Handbook" which I wrote with Dana Laake, a superb nutritionist. The 3rd edition of the cookbook was released in 2020 and provides a comprehensive overview of healthy eating as well as detailed information about numerous specialized diets for supporting health and behavioral/developmental functioning. I also give lectures locally and nationally on autism, ADHD and other behavioral and developmental challenges, focusing on providing holistic broad-based assessments and treatments that combine the best of traditional and integrative medicine approaches. I enjoy teaching both parents and clinicians and believe that "knowledge is power." My goal is to have parents be the most informed consumers and advocates they can be in the care of their children.
