Jeffrey A. Badger

Jeffrey Badger is from Uvalde, Texas. He has degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, Pennsylvania State University, and Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. He currently lives in San Antonio, Texas.

He is the author of two books:

1) Finding Granddad’s War. Badger tells the story of how he tracked down and interviewed 35 veterans from his deceased grandfather’s WWII unit and the people in France, the Netherlands and Germany who befriended them. Their first-hand accounts of life in a war zone – from the perspective of an Engineering unit – are unique, harrowing, and sometimes humorous.

2) The Lies and Deceptions of DPS Director Steve McCraw about the Uvalde School Shooting, co-authored with former Mayor Don McLaughlin. The two Uvaldeans were disturbed that our highest-ranking Texas law-enforcement official would stand in front of the Senate for four hours and lie and deceive about what happened when nineteen children were murdered. They wanted there to be a detailed record of this abomination. This book/report is that record.

3) Control the False Narrative. After the 2016 Pulse Nightclub Shooting that took 49 lives, Orlando Police Chief John Mina went to the media with a fictional account of the police response. Then, the Department of Justice COPS Office (DOJ-COPS) and the Police Foundation (PF) organization backed up that fictional account in a report filled with falsehoods, omissions and euphemisms. Using previously suppressed body-cam, dash-cam, and surveillance video, officer interviews, and internal records, the book chronicles what happened, the false media narrative put out by Mina and supported by DOJ-COPS/PF, and how DOJ-COPS/PF encouraged officials to, in their words, “frame the narrative” and then “control the narrative” – even if it’s a false narrative. Co-author Leinonen, whose son, Christopher, was killed at Pulse, said: “This book gives families, survivors, and the public the factual record they were denied in 2016.
