While I started out writing academic books, I have moved to work that I hope will draw a wider audience. Even so, all the books focus on the biographical. People interest me more than events. In Hollywood - Red, White & Blue those people were my family, caught up in the McCarthy era hysteria. My Most Talked About Book here in Amazon has a link to Goodreads reviews.
I have moved into other formats beyond biography, especially playwriting, but the interest in people is still there.
As someone who knows the academic world well, I wanted to write a satire about people in it and their eccentricities. Although this play, The Optimist, is a work of fiction, anyone with any exposure to college professors is likely to listen and think, "Oh, yes!" and think it rather often.
I tried an experiment with The Optimist. Originally, I wrote it for the radio and podcasting. Now it is also available as an audiobook through Audible, which is why it gets mentioned in this Amazon posting.
