Justin W. Patchin

Dr. Justin W. Patchin is a Professor of Criminal Justice in the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He received his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. He is also the co-founder and co-director of the Cyberbullying Research Center.

Dr. Patchin is the author of nine books and numerous academic and professional articles. Since 2002, his research has focused on adolescent behavior online. His "Bullying Beyond the Schoolyard: Preventing and Responding to Cyberbullying" (co-authored with Sameer Hinduja), examines the ways adolescents use technology to cause harm to their peers (and what adults can do about it). It was named Educator Book of the Year by ForeWord Reviews.

Dr. Patchin has appeared on NPR, BBC, CNN and in the New York Times and hundreds of other media outlets to discuss issues related to teens and technology. He regularly travels throughout the United States and abroad training parents, educators, law enforcement officers, and teens themselves about how to use technology safely and responsibly.
