Kekla Magoon

Kekla Magoon is the New York Times bestselling author of over two dozen books for young readers, including THE SECRET LIBRARY, THE SEASON OF STYX MALONE, THE ROCK AND THE RIVER, HOW IT WENT DOWN, X: A NOVEL (with Ilyasah Shabazz), and REVOLUTION IN OUR TIME: THE BLACK PANTHER PARTY'S PROMISE TO THE PEOPLE. She writes the ALFIE HAZARD AND THE SPY CATS series (illustrated by Fanny Liem) and she co-writes the BLUE STARS graphic novel series with Cynthia Leitich Smith (illustrated by Molly Murakami). Kekla has been a National Book Award finalist, in addition to winning a Michael L. Printz Honor, an NAACP Image Award, the John Steptoe New Talent Award, four Coretta Scott King Honors and two Walter Award Honors. She also received the 2021 Margaret A. Edwards Award for her significant and lasting contribution to young adult literature. Kekla holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and an M.F.A. in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
