Richard Moreno

I enjoy writing about history, particularly related to the West and the wonderful state of Nevada. Fortunately, I've been able to do so in several books, including "Frontier Fake News," "Mysteries and Legends of Nevada," "A Short History of Carson City, Nevada," "The Roadside History of Nevada," and "A Short History of Reno, Nevada."

In 2007, I was honored to receive the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame's Silver Pen Award, which recognizes emerging or mid-career writers who have shown substantial achievement in their work and a demonstrated connection with Nevada in either their subject matter or by living in the state.

For nearly a decade, I lived in the state of Illinois (to teach) and published three books about the Land of Lincoln, including "Illinois Curiosities," "It Happened in Illinois" and "Myths and Mysteries of Illinois."

My newest book is "Washington Historic Places on the National Register," published in 2026 by Mountain Press Publishing.
