Reed Bunzel

Reed Bunzel is a writer, analyst, editor, and “media anthropologist” with over 30 years of involvement in the media and publishing industries. He also serves as president of Bunzel Creative Services, LLC.

Bunzel is the author of a half dozen mystery novels, including Pay For Play, Palmetto Blood, Carolina Heat, Hurricane Blues (late 2019), Seven -Thirty Thursday (late 2019), and Skeleton Key (2020). He also has authored a number of business books and biographies, including California Style: The Joe Koret Story, Clear Vision: A History of Clear Channel Communications, The State Of Radio, and Guidelines For Radio: Copywriting.

The former President/CEO of an online music company (TheRadio.com), Bunzel has been involved with all aspects of digital music marketing, content development, program production, and audience research. During his tenure he and his team of media professionals built over 200 online radio stations available to listeners worldwide.

Previously, Bunzel was editor-in-chief for United News and Media’s San Francisco publishing operations, where he oversaw all editorial content of The Gavin Report. Earlier in his career, he was editor-in-chief of Streamline Publishing’s Radio Ink and Streaming magazines, as well as an editor at Radio & Records and Broadcasting magazine. He also served in an executive capacity at the National Association of Broadcasters and the Radio Advertising Bureau, where he was Vice President of Communications and Marketing.

A graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, Bunzel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology, cum laude. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, he currently resides with his wife Diana in Charleston, South Carolina.
