Annie Buckley is an artist, writer, and educator based in Los Angeles, CA. Her interdisciplinary practice embraces participatory art, collage, art criticism, fiction, and children's books (see also A. M. Buckley). Annie is interested in cross-pollinating art and fiction and her work has been included in numerous exhibitions including at Carl Berg Gallery, Jancar Gallery, Los Angeles International Airport, the Pacific Design Center, and the Hollywood Art and Culture Center. She has written over 200 reviews and articles about contemporary art for publications including Artforum, Art in America, Artillery, Artbound, Los Angeles Review of Books, and Huffington Post. She is a Professor of Visual Studies at San Diego State University, where she founded and directs the Institute for the Arts, Humanities, and Social Justice. In her free time, Annie enjoys yoga, exploring new art exhibitions, long walks in the neighborhood, outings with friends, and time at home with her husband Dane and their cats.
