David Kinchin

I am apprpaching retirement age - at long last you might say. I have been very active in the field of trauma counselling and psychological debriefing. I have a strong interest in the trauma counselling of young people too.

In addition i have worked as a creative writing tutor with the Writers Bureau for over twenty-five years and have worked with students from all five continents of the world.

I stated my working live as a secondary school teacher, leaving that to join the police force. It was on 15th July 1990 that my police career came to abrupt end when i was seriously assulted and suffered with broken bones and PTSD. This was the start of my interest in trauma and recovery.

I spent a lot of time in the 90's and 00's delivering training courses on Psycological debriefing and trauma counselling and have written numerous articles and five books on the subject. the first book was published in 1994, now sadly out of print, but the others still attract a wide readership and i continue to dabble in the training side of things.

Today, I still work in law as a magistrate, sitting most weeks. My wife of over forty years is a retired church minister. I have three children (grown) and five grandchildren at the last count. For my sins, I support Plymouth Argyle and Somerset Cricket - I am a west-countryman at heart as i was Born and bred in Plymouth - a true Janner.
