Kyril Tintarev

Cyril Tintarev, born 1956, graduated from Leningrad State University and received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. After eight years in the US, most of them spent at University of California, Irvine, he moved to Uppsala University in Sweden. In 2016 the university administration imposed on him a travel ban, compromising all his international collaboration. In absence of national legislation protecting academic freedoms, and despite multiple international protests, he failed to overturn the ban and resigned his position in Uppsala. He continues his mathematical work, collaborating with scholars in Europe, Israel, US, China and India.
