Shelley Peterman Schwarz

Shelley Peterman Schwarz is an award-winning author, columnist, and popular radio and TV personality, who just happens to have a disability. Shelley shares tips and strategies she has learned for living well despite chronic illness, disability, or age related limitations to benefit others with physical limitations and the people who love, care for, and work with them.

When diagnosed with the primary progressive form of multiple sclerosis (MS)in 1979, Shelley's life changed in ways that could never have been imagined. With two preschoolers at home and losing abilities daily, Shelley had to find new ways to do everyday tasks. Her "Eureka!" moment occurred one day while making a peanut butter sandwich; the bread tore and her children refused to eat it. Her solution: freeze the bread so she could spread the peanut butter without tearing it. That was the first of thousands of tips and strategies that eventually became the basis for articles published in such publications as Family Circle, Special Living, Inside MS, and Arthritis Today, to name a few and the popular Tips for Making Life Easier series of books. Shelley has been a featured and keynote presenter at conferences nationwide and conducts teleclasses and Webinars for audiences around the world.
