Dr Isabelle Hénault is a sexologist, psychologist and director of the
Clinique Autisme & Asperger de Montréal, Canada. She obtained a
Master’s in Sexology and a Doctorate in Psychology from the Uni
versité du Québec à Montréal. She consults privately (for individuals,
couples and families) and acts as a consultant to schools and organiza
tions. Her services also include diagnostic assessment. Isabelle gained
her expertise working with people with Asperger’s, especially in the
domains of interpersonal relationships and sexuality. The author of a
tailored socio-sexual programme, she has also collaborated on inter
national research on sex education and psychotherapy for autistic
people. She worked for more than two and a half years in Professor
Attwood’s clinic in Australia.
Isabelle is collaborating with Actions pour l’autisme Asperger in
France. In 2005, she published Le syndrome Asperger et la sexualité: De
la puberté à l’âge adulte [Asperger’s Syndrome and Sexuality] (Chenelière
Éducation), and is co-author of The Autism Spectrum, Sexuality and the
Law: What Every Parent and Professional Needs to Know (Attwood, Hénault
and Dubin 2014), published with Jessica Kingsley Publishers. She has
also written several chapters in books on autism in Europe, the United
States and Canada, and gives conference papers on these subjects as
well as participating in international colloquia.
