Ian R Mitchell hails from Aberdeen but has lived in Glasgow most of his life. For the past 20 years he has been writing full time and his works range widely over mountaineering, travel, fiction and history. He has won both the Outdoor Writers' Award for Excellence and the Boardman-Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature
