Terry R. Myers

Terry R. Myers is a writer and curator based in Los Angeles, and an editor-at-large of The Brooklyn Rail. Since 1988 he has written for more than thirty-five international journals and numerous books and exhibition catalogues. He is the author of Selected Essays 1988–2024 (2025), Reviews 1988–2020 (2022), and Mary Heilmann: Save the Last Dance for Me (2007), and the editor of Painting: Documents of Contemporary Art (2011). Exhibitions he has organized include Kay Rosen: lifeli[k]e (Museum of Contemporary Art and Otis Gallery, Los Angeles, 1998), Robert Overby: Parallel, 1978–1969 (Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, 2000), and Candida Alvarez: Here (Chicago Cultural Center, 2017). He has held faculty positions in the US and UK at Pratt Institute, Otis College of Art and Design, Art Center College of Design, Royal College of Art, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where he was Chair of Painting and Drawing from 2013-2018.
