John Rayne-Davis

John started writing in 1985 on the Greek island of Skyros. His first book "the Valley of God" was published in 1996 and was followed shortly after by "Prayers for a New Baby" in 2002 he had a biography published on St Margaret Clitherow. His other books include "Walsingham Prayers and Reflections" . He also wrote a history of the Shrine of Walsingham and a book about the Heritage of Catholic York. In 2014 He wrote a biography of Robert Aske who was leader of the Pilgrimage of Grace with his wife Wendy. He had a book published on St John Fisher in 2015 and in 2016 a biography of Sir George Cayley the man who invented the aeroplane. In 2018 his book called "The Martyrdoms at Clifford's Tower 1190 and 1537" is scheduled to be published in March. This covers the massacre of the York Jews and the martyrdom of Robert Aske. It will be launched at the Bar Convent in York on 14th March. John enjoys writing very much and especially the research. This he has always found easy as he was a marketing consultant before he retired and applied the same criteria to history as to commercial information.

He hopes to write several more books. John was educated at the Queens College Oxford and read Geology.
