Bert Gary

Bert is the son of a Methodist pastor, born and raised near Atlanta, GA. He received a BA and an MDiv from Emory University. Ordained in the UMC in 1986, Bert served as a pastor, educator, and hospice chaplain in Mississippi and Georgia until his retirement in 2024; he remains on the faculty the Society for Biblical Studies. Bert dabbles in ornithology, herpetology, and nature photography; and he enjoys sharing those photos on Facebook. Bert also volunteers as a Find a Grave photographer.
