George Witte

I commute by train to work, and much of my writing is done while in motion: 37 minutes, each way, each day. Airport waiting areas and plane rides also are useful; buses, not so much. My first book of poems, The Apparitioners, drew upon a deep well of poems written over almost fifteen years. My second and third books, Deniability and Does She Have a Name?, were written simultaneously and under intense emotional pressure, as parallel manuscripts that I toggled between. My fourth book, An Abundance of Caution, went through many iterations before reaching its final form, selecting from poems written over nine years.
