Tim Gill

Tim Gill is a London-based researcher and writer whose work focuses on children’s play and free time. The New York Times called his book No Fear “a handbook for the movement for freer, riskier play”. His book Urban Playground has been enthusiastically received by academics, decision-makers, professionals, activists and parents. Tim has led a successful global push for more adventurous, exciting playgrounds, campaigned for more child-friendly streets, towns and cities, and built the academic case for reconnecting children with nature. He is an ambassador for the UK Design Council, and was director of the Children’s Play Council (now Play England) from 1997 to 2004.
