Michael Steinmann

Michael Steinmann’s main interest is to see whether philosophy can still raise the big questions it used to raise. He believes that our modern world still needs philosophy’s ability to strive for conceptual clarity about the foundations of existence and reality. Michael Steinmann specializes in moral philosophy and in the German philosophy of the 19th and 20th century. He is a Professor of Philosophy at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. Born and raised in Germany, Michael Steinmann came to the US in 2007. He received his PhD at Tübingen University, with a thesis on the ethics of Friedrich Nietzsche. He received his ‘Habilitation’ at Freiburg University with a work on Martin Heidegger’s philosophy of logic and language.
