John Bradley

John Bradley was born in Brooklyn, New York, though he claims to have no memory of it. In an earlier life he believes he was an olive tree, a bucket of rainwater, a rusty wheelbarrow on a rocky hill. He attended many schools that taught him little of value, except for the art of invisibility. He believes doors possess a soul and that we should “treat them with more kindness.” He believes we are often watched by “creatures unseen,” and he is certain he has been spied on by a red fox.

He has been deeply influenced by the movement called Skyism, which believes that the region between wakefulness and sleep offers the purest view of the Sky, as seen before we were born. “My work,” he once said, “would not exist without Skyism, and perhaps Skyism would not exist without my work.” No one knows how many adherents of Skyism exist. Bradley would only say this about the movement: “You would not be here, no one would be here without the Sky.”

Residing in a small town in the Midwest, he sometimes has gone by the name of Duncan Delecto. Recently, he was sighted conducting a chorus of frogs singing in a flooded plain adjacent to a river. He was waving his arms, lost in the music.
