Nancy Perry

Nancy Perry passed away on August 7, 2021 after a brief illness. She was the youngest of six children raised in Houston, Texas. After graduating from Rice University, she married and began exploring the U.S. with her naval officer husband. As she moved from place to place she began a career in education -- teaching and later becoming a school counselor. This led to positions in the Maine Department of Education, the federal National Occupational Information Coordinating Committee, and finally Executive Director of the American School Counselor Association. After retirement, she switched her focus in writing from books about career development to writing picture books for children. Her first book, Duffy the Lonely Dragon, was a finalist for the prestigious Royal Palm Literary Award.
