Cathy Travis worked on Capitol Hill for 25 years as a communications director, senior advisor and political consultant for various Members of Congress until 2008. A native of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and graduate of Arkansas State University, she lives in Washington, D.C.
A prolific writer, Cathy has been writing stories since she was 11.
Always fascinated by characters, story lines – and for 25 years under urgent deadlines – she honed her writing and communications skills in the political NFL of Capitol Hill, telling reporters and voters the story of what was happening in politics and government.
Her first book, the award-winning CONSTITUTION TRANSLATED FOR KIDS, was hailed by partisans in all major political parties as an even-handed, non-ideological rendition of the founding U.S. document.
In 2016, she launched We The Books, to publish children's books, nonfiction, and novels.
Travis has been a registered Independent since March, 2001.
