Javier Negrete

Javier Negrete is a Spanish author of historical fiction and epic fantasy. Trained as a classical philologist, he blends rigorous scholarship with page-turning storytelling to reimagine Greek myth, the Trojan War, and the ancient Mediterranean in vivid, cinematic prose. His novel Masters of Olympus won the International Minotaur Novel Prize and, in its French edition, the Utopiales European Award. He has also taught Ancient Greek at secondary school.

His work has been translated into several languages, including French, Italian, Greek, and Portuguese. His historical novels include Salamis, The Spartan, and The Ides of January. He has also written nonfiction, including a continuing history of Rome: Victorious Rome, Unconquered Rome, and Betrayed Rome, which now reaches the end of the Republic.
