Happymon Jacob

Happymon Jacob is the Founder and Director of the Council for Strategic and Defence Research in New Delhi, and the Founding Editor of India's World, a monthly magazine on foreign policy and international affairs. He writes a weekly column for the Hindustan Times. He is the author of Line of Control: Travelling with the Indian and Pakistani Armies (Penguin Viking, 2018) and Line on Fire: Ceasefire Violations and India-Pakistan Escalation Dynamics (Oxford University Press, 2019).

His new book, India After Nonalignment: The Quest to Become a Pole in International Politics, is published by Georgetown University Press and Penguin-Viking India.

He has previously taught at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, University of Jammu, Jamia Millia Islamia and Shiv Nadar University. Alongside his academic work, Jacob has spent close to two decades in Track-2 initiatives focusing on India’s relations with Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Canada and South Korea.
