JOE HOLLAND is an eco-social philosopher and Catholic theologian focusing on the emerging postmodern philosophical-scientific "New Cosmology" and its implications for eco-social ethics in a future postmodern global ecological civilization and a future postmodern Catholic world church. He holds a PhD from the University of Chicago and was a Fulbright Scholar at the Catholic University in Santiago, Chile.

Joe is Emeritus Professor of Philosophy & Religion at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida, as well as Adjunct Professor at St. Thomas University School of Law. He is also Permanent Visiting Professor at the Universidad Mayor de Altiplano in Puno, Peru and has also often lectured at the University Mayor de San Andres in La Paz, Bolivia.

In addition, Joe is President of Pax Romana / Catholic Movement for Intellectual & Cultural Affairs USA, as well as Editor of its Pacem in Terris Press, with both based in Washington DC. He is also Executive Director of its Pacem in Terris Ecological Initiative, which seek a postmodern artistic, intellectual, and spiritual renaissance for a future global ecological civilization and global ecological Catholicism. He has also served as Pax Romana NGO Representative to the Economic & Social Council of the United Nations. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors for the Spirituality & Sustainability Global Network, a founding Co-Chair of Catholic Scholars for Worker Justice, and a member of the International Association for Catholic Social Thought based at the University of Leuven in Belgium.

Earlier, Joe served as an Associate at the Center of Concern, a Washington DC institute for research and education on international issues founded jointly by the international Jesuit order and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Later, he served as founding Executive Director of PILLAR, a research and education institute for Catholic lay leadership then located at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.

Among Joe's 20 published books, his most significant early books are MODERN CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING and SOCIAL ANALYSIS (written with Peter Henriot), with the latter's US English edition having more 50,000 copies sold, plus 4 foreign-language translations and 2 foreign English editions. The text is still used in seminaries, colleges, and universities, as well as by grass-roots communities. His most recent major book is POSTMODERN ECOLOGICAL SPIRITUALITY.

Joe has lectured at many US universities, including Georgetown, Harvard, Notre Dame, Princeton, and at many foreign universities, including the Institut Catholique in Paris, France; the National University of the Altiplano in Puno, Peru; the Pontifical Catholic University in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Sogang University in Seoul, Korea; Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan; and the University of San Andres Mayor in La Paz, Bolivia.
