Alejandro Bruzual

Alejandro Bruzual obtained his Ph.D. in Latin American Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh, PA. He completed Classical Guitar Studies in Venezuela. His works in the music focus on Latin American guitar and musical nationalism. Bruzual was editor of the Collection of Venezuelan Composers for Guitar, by Fundación Vicente Emilio Sojo. He has published more than 20 books, between them, seven biographical works on Venezuelan guitarists: Antonio Lauro, Raúl Borges, Alirio Díaz, Rodrigo Riera, Manuel Enrique Pérez Díaz, Fredy Reyna, and the composer Inocente Carreño. His Venezuelan Guitar History. A concise History to the End of the 20th Century, was published in Canada by Editions Doberman-Yppan. He was professor of literature at Universidad Central de Venezuela, president of the Venezuelan Musicological Society, and he is current researcher of the Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos Rómulo Gallegos (Celarg).
