Born in Houston, Wendell Horton graduated from UT Austin 1963. In 1967 he received a Physics PhD from the University of California at San Diego. He worked at the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab and the Institute for Advanced Study from 1967-1969 after which he joined the faculty in the Physics Department at the University of Texas. Currently, Horton carries out research in the Institute for Fusion Studies and consults at the Applied Research Laboratory on solar wind-driven turbulence in the magnetosphere-ionosphere. He has numerous peer reviewed and invited publications, books and research grants. His has been adjunct to Rice University, the University of Sao Paulo, and Aix-Marseille University where he works colleagues at the Cadarache laboratory. Wendell enjoys ranching and fishing.
