David Ian Hall is an author and historian. He has a DPhil in modern history from the University of Oxford, and he is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Presently, he is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Defence Studies Department (DSD), King's College London (KCL). From 1998 to 2020, Dr Hall taught in DSD, KCL at the Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC), part of the UK Defence Academy. He is a specialist in nineteenth and twentieth century German history, his published works include First and Second World War topics; Strategy for Victory: The Development of British tactical Air Power, 1919-1943 (Praeger, 2008) was selected for the Chief of the Air Staff’s Reading List. He has also lead many cultural-political study tours and military staff rides for the UK armed forces and NATO. He lives in Oxfordshire.
