Maja Mikula

Maja grew up in former Yugoslavia, the self-avowed border zone in the otherwise polarized geopolitical patchwork of the Cold War era. She studied Italian, English and comparative literature at the University of Zagreb, Croatia; English at the University of Washington (Seattle, USA) and Italian Renaissance history at Sydney University in Australia. Her most recent publication is of a compendium of Key Concepts in Cultural Studies (Palgrave MacMillan 2008). Her other publications have focused on issues of gender, national identity, digital technologies, new media, popular culture and everyday life, with a focus on Italy and post-WWII Yugoslavia.

She currently teaches in the Cultural Studies and International Studies programs at the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia.
