John Bateson

My latest book "Suicide" is from Johns Hopkins University Press. My previous books are "The Education of a Coroner" (Scribner), "The Last and Greatest Battle" (Oxford University Press), "The Final Leap" (University of California Press), and "Building Hope" (Prager Press). Currently, a debut novel I wrote is being shopped by a literary agent.

For 16 years I was executive director of a nationally-certified crisis center in the San Francisco Bay Area. I also have been executive director of three university-run counseling centers and assistant director of a two-county social service agency. Earlier in my career I was a book reviewer for the San Francisco Chronicle and other publications.
