Mark Lanci

Mark Lanci, MSW, is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the State of Washington. He received his master's degree in 1996 from the University of Washington School of Social Work. He has worked in an inpatient setting at the University of New Mexico Hospital and in outpatient settings such as the Community Mental Health system and in private practice. While in private practice he specialized in treating anxiety, phobias and trauma. He has also been the District Manager for a large, non-profit managed care organization where he oversaw the behavioral healthcare provided by a network of several hundred independent contracted practitioners.

Note to practitioners: My co-author, Anne Spreng, MEd, & I wrote the Therapist's Starter Guide in response to having contact with many graduate students and new practitioners who often asked questions about how to get started in the behavioral health field. We wanted to give students insights into the real world of psychotherapy practice. Since then, experienced practitioners have given us feedback that the information, particularly about working with insurance companies, has been very helpful to them as well.
