Steven Phillips

Steven Phillips began studying piano at the age of 6 and by his early 20s was earning a living as a professional musician in the Atlanta Music scene. He worked with legendary drummer for James Brown Mr. Tony Cook and also worked as a keyboard programmer for Ichiban records. And earned a gold disc for his remix of New Age Girl by Deadeye Dick.

He took his talents out west to Los Angeles where he continued to play live music and work in the film industry composing music and sound design.

He has always maintained his study of piano and maintaining his piano technique. Over the years he has found the study of jazz piano to be very helpful in arranging and composing as he explains..."...not that I'm composing music like Herbie Hancock, but the knowledge of jazz piano helps to create interesting harmonies."

The book Left-hand Bass for Keyboardists was written out of necessity and to help him improve his piano technique especially the left hand dexterity and coordination. The book would be fun and helpful for anyone looking to improve their piano technique or enjoys the study of jazz piano.

He now lives in North Georgia with his wife Julie and two boys Samuel and Hank and continues to play live music all over the south east. He owns a recording studio where he continues to arrange and produce music for himself and local artists. He has also begun a new youtube channel and intends to add content regularly. He works as Creative Services Director at WCON My Country and earned a Gabby award for his production in 2019.
