Kay Brainerd Slocum

Kay Brainerd Slocum is Gerhold Professor of Humanities, Emerita, at Capital University, where she taught courses in Western Civilization, Medieval History and Humanities. She has published four books and numerous articles in her primary field of Medieval Studies. Kay has also pursued an active career as a musician, performing as violist with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, the Ohio Chamber Orchestra, the Youngstown Symphony and the Erie Philharmonic. Her research combines the disciplines of history and music, and her publications present medieval history as viewed through the lens of artistic and cultural expression.
