Roy A. Clouser

Roy Clouser earned a BA in philosophy at Gordon College, a BD in theology from Reformed Episcopal Seminary. After starting his PhD work at Harvard in philosophy of religion (mostly with Paul Tillich), he finished it in philosophy at U. of Pennsylvania by writing the first PhD dissertation in the US on the philosophy of Herman Dooyeweerd under the supervision of James Ross.

He was the first non-Catholic ever hired in philosophy at La Salle University (Philadelphia), and the first to be hired in the newly created philosophy dept. of The College of New Jersey. For 16 years he taught both at TCNJ and as adjunct assoc. Prof. at Rutgers, Camden. He retired in 2002.

He is the author of over 20 articles in journals and anthologies. The journals include Critica, Science and Faith in Cristian Perspective, Philosophia Reformata, and Axiomathes. The anthologies include Intelligent Design Creationism and its Critics (MIT Press), The Rationality of Theism (Rodopi Press), and Divine Essence and Divine Energies (James Clarke & Co.).

He is now at work on a third book, Christianity and Naturalism: A Study in Comparative Divinity Beliefs.
