Andrew Burstein

ANDREW BURSTEIN recently retired from Louisiana State University, where he was the Charles P. Manship Professor of History. He is the author of numerous books about early American politics and culture, including Jefferson's Secrets and The Passions of Andrew Jackson. With coauthor Nancy Isenberg, he produced two major dual biographies: Madison and Jefferson (2010) and The Problem of Democracy: The Presidents Adams Confront the Cult of Personality (2019). He serves on the Advisory Board of the Papers of Thomas Jefferson, advised the Ken Burns PBS documentary "Thomas Jefferson," and was featured on C-SPAN's American Presidents Series and Booknotes. He lives in Charlottesville, Virginia.
