John J. W. Rogers

i am a retired Professor of Geology. i was on the faculty of Rice University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A life spent observing academe led me to conclude that colleges and universities are more interested in their reputations than their students. To explain this feeling i invented fictional Winford College and am publishing, with Lulu, an ebook titled Fame and Responsibility at Winford College. The humor in the book is enhanced by sketches by Sylvia A. Lauterborn.

My concern is primarily for women students. I first became involved when I spent 5 years in charge of a women's residence at Rice. My continuing concern is shown in two books listed on the Amazon website - Women, Rocks, and Professors; Memories of a University Professor; and Women's College Education in the Past Two Centuries.
