I am a fiction author and a conceptual artist. My love of language bridges these two separate pursuits. Of my nine books, three are micro/short story collections. There is also a novel and a novella. The ways our minds work and specifically the act of relating are my main subjects. I present disturbing views of the human scene--in particular, alienation and loneliness--but my writing is often relieved by humor. My travels, especially in the third world (Mexico, Central America, Indonesia, Egypt, Mali, Turkey and Peru) have inspired many of my stories, my novel and my novella though my latest collection, The Princess of Myself (Pelekinesis Press, 2017) tells stories that take place much closer to home. My memoir, Amazon Dream, is the story of my trip alone in the Peruvian Amazon. My three other books, writing guides, present my original writing method which has been used by thousands through my books and my teaching at The New School for many years, in the Writing Program at Columbia University and in my private workshops. I am known as a pioneer of flash fiction. Visit my website: www.robertaallen.com
