Bob Bearden

Texas Veteran tells his tale :

Bob Bearden is a WWII paratrooper who is humbled by his newfound fame since the release of his book “To D-Day and Back: Adventures with the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment and Life as a World War II POW.”

The book was published in 2007 and sold 4000 copies in the first month. Since then Bob and his wife have continued selling books individually by self publishing. His website: www.boblbearden.com is another source to obtain personalized copies.

The now 94 year old, Belton Texas resident was among those D-Day combatants featured in a Discovery Channel documentary in January 2006 and he has also participated in both the documentary film and book “Down to Earth The 507th PIR in Normandy.”

He is often heard saying, “I have been blessed all my life.” At one time he thought life could not get any better when in 1940,his school was the Dallas District track champs, of which he was fortunate enough to be a part. He would have no way to know he would go on to marry, have 6 successful children, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, or that he would start and run numerous businesses all over the country, learn to fly a plane, ride motorcycles, begin and grow a non profit drug and alcohol treatment facility for 20 years and be given an award by President Reagan at the White House for his work with youth.
