Jan Peck writes books that make kids giggle, wiggle, and shout, “Read it again!” She’s the author of Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea, Pirate Treasure Hunt!, The Giant Carrot, and the new fan-favorite Robot Won’t Say I’m Sorry!
Her stories have popped up in Highlights for Children, Boys’ Life, Chicken Soup for the Kid’s Soul, and other places where kids (and grownups) love to laugh and learn. When she’s not writing, she’s gardening, dreaming up silly plots, and chatting with kids on Zoom—usually with a giant carrot nearby.
Jan is a long-time member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and served as Regional Advisor for the North Central/Northeast Texas chapter. She’s also a former freelance editor for Boys’ Life magazine. Her writing has earned recognition from respected judges including Bruce Degan (The Magic School Bus), George Stanley (The Scaredy-Cat Series), and Betsy Haynes (Bone Chillers).
