Roger W. Earle

Roger W. Earle, MA, CSCS,*D, NSCA-CPT,*D, RSCC,*D, has over 35 years of experience as a personal fitness trainer, competitive sport conditioning coach, and behavior modification facilitator for people of all ages and fitness levels. In addition to training clients in person and online, he lectures at national and international conferences about weight management, exercise motivation, and the design of personalized exercise and training programs.

Currently, Earle is a senior acquisitions editor in the trade and professional division at Human Kinetics, the world’s largest publisher of sport and exercise books and online products. He acquires and develops books, e-books, ancillaries, and online courses related to strength training and conditioning and personal training, including all the products developed in collaboration with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Earle is also a coauthor, coeditor, or contributor for 10 fitness- or resistance-training-related books, including "Weight Training: Steps to Success", "Fitness Weight Training", and earlier editions of "NSCA’s Essentials of Personal Training" and "Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning" (www.amazon.com/Roger-W.-Earle/e/B001IGOVJQ).

Previously, Earle was the associate executive director and the director of exam development for the certification arm of the NSCA, a role in which he was responsible for reviewing and editing the NSCA’s CSCS and NSCA-CPT exams and writing exam preparation resources, including coediting the first edition of "NSCA’s Essentials of Personal Training" and the second and third editions of "Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning."

Before working at the NSCA, Earle was the director of strength and conditioning at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska for 10 years. His job duties were to design and supervise a 4,000 square-foot sport performance facility, develop and administer resistance training and conditioning programs for over 350 athletes in 15 sports, and supervise six staff members. While at Creighton, Earle was a faculty member in the exercise science and athletic training department.

Earle competes in obstacle course racing and he has over 35 top 5 placings in his open age group in Spartan races. He began racing in 2013 and he has qualified for the OCR World Championships each year since 2015.
