James Fernandes

James Fernandes, Author/Accountant/Comptroller/CFO/Immigrant/Conscientious Objector.

Jim Fernandes is a retired Industrial Accountant and Portfolio Manager with an uninterrupted career spanning several decades and three continents.

Jim was born on the Island of Madeira. He immigrated first, in 1952 to South America, then, later in the 1950s, to Canada and later to the United States. He remains a staunch Portuguese natural, notwithstanding his early experiences under dictatorship and fascism when he was a conscientious objector to Portugal's colonial presence in Africa.

Jim is a self made professional. Through adult education, he became a financial comptroller and CFO with the offshore operations of General Instrument Corporation. He was also a member of the senior treasury staff with the Corporation of the City of Toronto.

Jim, resides in Oshawa in the province of Ontario, Canada with his wife Joan Louise.
