Aabid Surti

Aabid Surti was born in Gujarat, India in May 1935. He is the author of over 80 books, short stories, poetry collections, plays and film scripts. In 1993, he was conferred a National Award for literature by the president of India for his short story collection titled 'Teesri Aankh' (The Third Eye).

Besides being an author, he has earned accolades within India and abroad as a painter, author, cartoonist, journalist, environmentalist, playwright and screenwriter besides being a "one-man" NGO in the field of water conservation.

Two of his books 'Sufi - The Invisible Man of the Underworld' and 'Daud' (The Chase) are now being made into motion pictures.
