John Joseph Puthenkalam

John Joseph Puthenkalam, S.J., Ph.D., is currently a Professor at Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan. Born in Kerala, India in 1956, he joined the Society of Jesus in 1976. After obtaining degrees in Economics and Philosophy, he went to Japan in 1986, where he completed his Theology Degree Studies at Sophia University, Tokyo. He obtained his Doctoral Degree in Economics at the University of Glasgow, U. K., in 1996. His award winning books include Comprehension of Freedom, published in London (1995) and The Collision of Cultures: Dialogue Between Globalization and Cultures, published in Germany, (2001). His research aims at the integration of economics, culture and philosophy for human, sustainable and participatory development for environmental protection. For details, please visit:
