Ms. Vinod Tagra is post-graduate in English and History from Delhi University and did Advanced Course in French from the School of Foreign Languages, Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
Having worked for four years in Nehru Memorial Library and achieved proficiency in Nehru papers and other private collections, she joined Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund to work for the project, “Selected Works of Jawaharlal Nehru,” headed by Prof. S. Gopal, an eminent historian and an authority on Jawaharlal Nehru. As a Research Officer and then an Associate Editor she made substantial contribution to various volumes of the project.
Her publications include:
1. Jawaharlal Nehru – The Architect of Modern India, with a foreword by the then Prime Minister, Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The first copy was presented to the then Hon’ble President of India, Shri R. Venkatraman. It was released by Smt. Sheila Dikshit, the then Minister in PM office, in 1989. It got publicity in newspapers and Doordarshan.
2. Kedar Nath Goenka, a prominent freedom fighter of Delhi. It was released by the then Home Minister, Shri S. B. Chavan, in 1991.
3. Sant Mat – Way to Salvation in 1991. The first copy was presented to Chief Minister Smt. Sheila Dikshit.
4. Jawaharlal Nehru and the Status of Women in India, with Senior Fellowship by ICSSR. It was released by Shri Arjun Singh, the then Hon’ble Minister of Human Resource Development, on 9 Nov 2006. The book had wide coverage in 23 newspapers and Doordarshan.
5. She also presented papers at some sessions of Indian History Congress which were later published in its proceedings, and wrote some research papers for seminars and conferences, and a few articles for the press.
