Nancy Condee

Nancy Condee is on the Slavic and Film Studies faculty at the University of Pittsburgh, where she is also director of the Global Studies Center, one of eleven government-funded global-studies research centers in the US (Title VI). Publications include _The Imperial Trace_, _Antinomies of Art and Culture_ (co-edited with Terry Smith and Okwui Enwezor), _Soviet Hieroglyphics_, and _Endquote_ (co-edited with Marina Balina and Evgeny Dobrenko). She is on the editorial board of the journals _Studies in Russian and Soviet Cinema_, _KinoKultura_, _Critical Quarterly_, and _Russian Studies in Literature_. She is a member of the Russian Guild of Cinema Scholars and Critics (Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation). She served for six years as Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Council for Eurasian and East European Research, the largest US grant agency for social-science research in Eurasia (Title VIII). Her work has appeared in _The Washington Post_, _The Nation_, _October_, _New Left Review_, _PMLA_, and major Soviet and Russian publications including _Seans_, _Iskusstvo kino_, _NLO_, and _Voprosy literatury_. Research awards include the Modern Language Association (MLA) Aldo and Jeanne Scaglione Prize for Studies in Slavic Languages and Literatures (2011)and the Society for Cinema and Media Studies Katherine Singer Kovács Book Award (2010).
