David Hofstede

I was born in Skokie, IL, where I lived for the first 18 years of my life, with the exception of two years that need not be elaborated on here. I was an only child and an introvert, plugged into pop culture from a very early age. The shows that I grew up with are the ones still closest to my heart today – The Brady Bunch, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Partridge Family – and the shows slightly before my time that aired daily in syndication – The Dick Van Dyke Show, I Love Lucy, Bewitched – plus the Saturday morning cartoons and live action kids series of the 1970s.

In 1982, after graduating high school, I moved with my family to Las Vegas. I attended UNLV and began a freelance writing career that encompassed articles on everything from silver mining to the quality of convenience store cuisine. Whenever I could, I wrote about television.

Over the past two decades I’ve had several books on television published, including What Were They Thinking?, The 100 Dumbest Events in Television History, Obsessed With TV, and companion guides to Charlie’s Angels (written with Jack Condon) and The Dukes of Hazzard. My blog, Comfort TV, has received more than 750,000 visits since launching in 2012.
